Two Capoeira students training together at Zero Gravity Martial Arts in Mississauga

CAPOEIRA BAMBA MISSISSAUGA

Capoeira — the Afro-Brazilian martial art

This martial art incorporates self-defence, acrobatics, music and dance. Our adults and kids classes in Mississauga focus on gaining strength, agility and total body control — no experience needed.

WHAT IS CAPOEIRA?

A martial art that moves like nothing else

Created by Afro-Brazilian communities centuries ago, Capoeira blends self-defence, acrobatics, rhythm and song into one living tradition. It builds athletes, musicians and friends at the same time.

Self-defence & acrobatics

Classes focus on strength, agility and total body control through kicks, escapes and acrobatic movement — starting with the ginga and building from there.

Music & language

Students learn to sing songs in Portuguese and play traditional instruments — the berimbau, pandeiro and atabaque. Capoeira is played, not just trained.

For every level

New students practice simple movements to build a base before moving on to more complex ones. All levels are welcome — kids 7–13 and adults alike.

THE COACH

Mike “Pulga” Soltysiak

Mike Soltysiak is the head Capoeira instructor at Zero Gravity Martial Arts & Fitness. He has been training Capoeira since 2003 and martial arts since the age of four. Over the years he has travelled across North America and Brazil to compete and take part in workshops led by well-known Mestres and Professores.

A certified personal trainer with experience in MMA and Kyokushin Karate, Mike currently trains under Marcos “Paraiba” Martins, the founder and head teacher of Capoeira Bamba. He opened this academy in 2011 — dedicated to Capoeira at first, and since grown into something much greater.

OUR CAPOEIRA FAMILY

Team Capoeira Bamba

BAMBA is more than a group — it’s a way of thinking. From the Quibundo language of African tribes, mbamba means expert, excellence, master. Zero Gravity is the Mississauga branch of Team Capoeira Bamba, founded by Marcos “Paraiba” Martins.
