TRADITIONAL JAPANESE ART

Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu

The Mississauga Bujinkan is a small school devoted to the traditional Japanese arts of the Bujinkan — practical movement, timing and technique passed down from Headmaster Masaaki Hatsumi.

THE ART

Nine centuries of tradition

Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu draws on the classical arts inherited by Masaaki Hatsumi from Toshitsugu Takamatsu Sensei.

A living tradition

Budo Taijutsu was founded by Headmaster Masaaki Hatsumi in 1970 from the arts he inherited from his teacher, Toshitsugu Takamatsu Sensei.

Practical movement

Timing, distance, balance and technique over brute force — skills that translate to real-world self-defence.

A small, dedicated school

The Mississauga Bujinkan keeps classes focused and personal — ideal for learning a traditional art properly, whatever your level.

THE NINE SCHOOLS

Budo Taijutsu is nine traditions in one

Budo Taijutsu is taught as a koryū — a curriculum drawn from nine traditional Japanese schools (ryūha) handed down within the Bujinkan.

Lineage

Toshitsugu Takamatsu passed the schools to Masaaki Hatsumi, who founded the Bujinkan — the "Divine Warrior House" — and taught the shihan who carry the art worldwide today.

What training covers

Body awareness and natural movement, close combat, and the traditional weapons of the schools — an integrated approach to mental and physical training, whatever your starting point.
